Easy on the eyes

Hey, my mother-in-love, gave me the greatest tip!   She told me that she washes off her eye makeup with Johnson's baby shampoo.   I tried it and it works like a charm!  No tears and it's cheaper than all the other stuff out there.   Perfect!

I thought I should share the awesome information.  So you too, can have clear eyes.

Try it!  Oh, by the way, just a dab of it to put on a wet washcloth.  We finished a soap dispenser and poured the shampoo in it so we could have a pump for our bathroom.

Pump it up!

God gives better gifts than Santa

So my family went to Blue Ridge (our church) on Saturday to serve. I was working with the stage design team to build our next stage, John was working in his office, and the boys were happily occupied playing Wii.

One of our teenager's moms came into John's office. We love their family and especially their youngest daughter. She said she felt God lead her to give us a gift card. Not just any gift card, a gift card to Best Buy....we were so thankful!

But then she said it was for $500! Whoa! What!

That was incredible! What a gift from God!

So, we wanted to pray about how to use the gift card. We were out by Best Buy and the parking lot was packed, so John went in to see if Band Hero was on sale, and it was! $50 less, and it was the last one so we decided to get it.

When John walked out of the store with the huge box in his hands the boys flipped! Because all four of us can play at the same time...drums, electric guitar, bass guitar, and sing :)

Spencer said, "God gave us a better present than Santa did!"

It's so true. God gives His children the best gifts. Thank you God for providing for us more than we could ever imagine.

1 John 3:1

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!

Hang 10 in 2010

Hang 10 in 2010 will be my boys slogan for this year. Their room is decorated in surf decor and hang 10 is a surfing term for "walking the board and hanging all 10 toes off the end."

John and I have wanted to get our family to memorize verses together. So what's that have to do with Hang 10...well....We will give our family a goal of memorizing 10 verses this year.

I'll put the 10 verses on a homemade paper surfboard. When they memorize it they'll get a sticker for that surfboard and be able to HANG it up in their room.

What do you think? Will the surfboards/stickers be enough motivation to memorize? Which verses would you recommend memorizing for 5 and 8 year olds?

It's a new year!

So, it's the new year and I'm back to blogging.

We'll see how that goes.

My goal is to have "Silent Sunday Nights" with my family. A quiet time to do quiet things....reflecting on the past week or Sunday's message then blogging my thoughts...so blogging on a weekly basis. My husband can do the same. And my boys can read books or write letters.

This idea is so brand new to me that I haven't even shared it with my family. It just kinda came to me while soaking in the tub.

I love hot baths. :)

Old City Cemetery

Over the Memorial Day weekend we were happy to have John's parents visit. The boys were thrilled to see their grandparents because they only get to see them 3-4 times a year. Monday we played Cranium Family Edition, had a big brunch at home, played "Sprinkle Daddy", (dad had the hose and was spraying the kids as they tried to outrun him, very amusing), Popsicles, a trip to Old City Cemetery, home for grilling out burgers and hotdogs, listening to the rain, and great talks and books before bed. What a perfect day!

U-6 soccer

Zach decided to play U-6 soccer this year because he wasn't old enough to play t-ball. He's been having fun, finding friends to pick on, and gets that look of determination when he goes to kick the ball. Fortunately, Spencer's U-8 team coach lets him practice with their team as well. Zach really likes the challenge and isn't scared one bit of the bigger kids.

Here's some pictures from one of the U-6 practices.

Campbell Co. Art Show

Lately I've started to explore art in other forms besides photography. I've been painting abstract on canvas. I love it! I turn on some music, go downstairs to the "studio" and slip into my own little world.

May 9th was my first art show. It was the Campbell Co. Art Show which was held in Rustburg at the Courthouse Square. My booth was next to the Vice President of the Lynchburg Art Club, Nancy Wood, so I got a chance to talk with her most of the day. The show was kinda small, about 60 artists, and it felt like a family reunion. Many artists come back every year and so they all sit and talk and look at each other's recent pieces.

I entered some paintings and photograph's in the contest for judging. I ended up getting 1st place in the professional photography section, with a photograph entitled "Sweet Feet."

And to my surprise, I got 2nd place in professional acrylic paintings with the painting titled "Held Together."
